Furthermore, within the standardization landscape for wearable electronics—including smart textiles—international standards are being developed for systems that connect wearable electronic devices via wireless networks tailored to the human body’s immediate environment, alongside the standardization of related peripheral technologies. As such network technologies become more commonplace, smart textiles will be positioned as input terminals within these networks. In effect, these network technologies will serve as the foundation for large-scale healthcare management systems. Securing a role as an input terminal within such large-scale networks is the essential foothold for the widespread adoption of smart textiles.
