首先，回顧服裝與紡織品逐步獲得機能性的歷史，以及穿戴式運算（Wearable Computing）發展的歷程。說明兩者如何相互影響，使服裝逐漸電子化，並演進成今日所稱的「智慧紡織品」，並對其發展過程進行整體概述。
